Shroud and Cable

The Shroud and Cable is an Australian made product specifically designed for vehicles as portable security for the Hide Away Safe when a Vehicle Fixing Kit cannot be installed in a Vehicle or when using a loaned or hire Car. Other locations are listed below.

The Shroud and Cable can also be used to temporary secure the Hide Away Safe in a Home, Work Place or in a Motel Room as no permanent installation is required.

The Shroud and Cable is manufacture for both the relocatable, High Security, Light-Weight Hide Away Safe, the mk2 (smaller) and mk3 or Laptop Safe (larger).

Shroud and Cable requires no permanent installation in a Vehicle, Home or Work Place.

Shroud and Cable Comes In Two Parts

The Shroud

The Shroud
is manufactured from 3mm thick Steel
and powder coated black.

The Steel Shroud has four corner anchor points at the rear allowing the Steel Cable to be passed through to secure the Steel Shroud to a rigid item eg. a vehicle's boot hinge or the back of the front seat floor bracket.

Both sides and the rear has numerous punched holes suitable for concealed fastening of the Steel Shroud to a flat surface if required.

The bottom of the Steel Shroud has High Tensile m5x8mm clinch studs with shake proof washers and High Tensile nuts to match the existing fastening holes in the Docking Station, leaving additional holes for conventional fastening down of the Steel Shroud and Docking Station to a flat surface if required.

The clinch studs are attached to the bottom of the Steel Shroud by pressing them through the Steel under high pressure, making the bottom of the Steel Shroud smooth.

The advantage of this manufacturing technique is, having no nuts on the outside of the Steel Shroud ensures if a thief does break into a Vehicle with a Shroud and Cable there are no nuts they can undo to remove the Hide Away Safe.

The Cable

Supplied with the Steel Shroud is a 1.8 meter long spring coiled 10mm plastic coated 8mm oversized Steel Cable with an extra heavy duty four stage combination lock. The combination can be set by the purchaser.

NB: We supply 34% extra security by using 8mm oversized Steel Cable to secure the Hide Away Safe / Steel Shroud compared to Handgun legislation in the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) that specify the use of a 6mm Steel Cable to secure a Handgun in a Vehicle.

How To Fit The Steel Cable To The Steel Shroud

Shroud and Cable with mk2 Docking Station bolted to it.

Slide the Steel Cable through at least one or both of the corner anchor points on either side at the back of the Steel Shroud.
Loop one end of the Steel Cable around something solid and push it into the other end of the four stage combination lock and turn the four dials to lock it.

NB: You can set your own combination on the four stage combination lock.
Slide the Hide Away Safe into the Docking Station and lock it with the supplied Abloy Classic Key or Abloy PROTEC Key. All contents in the Hide Away Safe are now secure.

How To Secure The Shroud and Cable In A Vehicle

Through the back of the front seat floor bracket. - Wrap one end of the Steel Cable around the back of the front seat floor bracket and push it into the other end of the four stage combination lock and turn the four dials to lock it.
Through the boot hinge. - Wrap one end of the Steel Cable through the boot hinge and push it into the other end of the four stage combination lock and turn the four dials to lock it.

Where Can A Shroud and Cable Be Used

Suggested places where a Shroud and Cable can be used to temporarily secure the Hide Away Safe:

Using a loaned, hire or Company Vehicle.
Unavoidably having to leave a Hide Away Safe for short periods of time in a Vehicle when, for whatever reason, a Vehicle Fixing Kit cannot be installed in that Vehicle.
Visiting a client at their office and having to leave your Hide Away Safe unattended in their office.
At your Work Place when you have to leave your Hide Away Safe unattended.
Staying away over night at a Motel / Hotel.
Staying overnight at a friends house.
Overnight in your Home when a Docking Station has not been installed there.
If you are renting a House or Apartment and you cannot install a Docking Station there.
In your Caravan or Motor Home.

PLUS

Any temporary location where there is something solid that the Steel Cable can be wrapped round and locked.

NB: The Steel Cable can also be used to facilitate additional security of a brief case, suit case, tool box, camera case while carried in a Vehicle, Caravan or Motor Home.

Please Note

The price for the Shroud and Cable DOES NOT INCLUDE a Docking Station. If you intend to install the Docking Station that is included with each Hide Away Safe in your Residential Home, Office, Factory, Caravan or Motor Home and you also purchase a Shroud and Cable you will need to purchase another Docking Station to be bolted to the Shroud and Cable.
